Meta announced in April 2026 a revamped account management system designed to simplify how users sign in and control their experience across the company’s growing ecosystem of apps and devices.
The new Meta Account system will replace the existing Accounts Center, rolling out over the next year. It addresses the complexity users face managing separate logins for Facebook, WhatsApp, Meta AI glasses, and other Meta products.
With Meta Account, users can set up a single password that works across all Meta platforms, with the option to protect logins using Passkeys—biometric authentication through fingerprints, face recognition, or device passwords. The system will provide security recommendations to keep users current with multi-factor authentication and send login alerts across devices.
The centralized system allows users to manage cross-platform settings in one location, including passwords, two-factor authentication, and associated email addresses. “Because these don’t change from app to app, you shouldn’t have to update them separately,” Meta explained in its announcement.
Parents will benefit from enhanced supervision tools through the Family Center dashboard, where they can manage settings for Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and Meta Horizon without switching between apps. App-specific settings—such as Facebook post visibility or Instagram photo tagging permissions—will remain managed within individual apps.
Meta emphasized that the new system is optional. Users who prefer to keep their logins separate can do so, and accounts can be added or removed from the Meta Account at any time.
The move comes as Meta’s ecosystem has expanded to what the company acknowledges feels “unwieldy,” with users juggling multiple accounts and credentials across its various platforms and hardware products.
