Asia AI data center provider, Firmus, has secured a $505 million funding round led by Coatue, pushing its valuation to $5.5 billion. Over the past six months, Firmus has raised a total of $1.35 billion, with previous backing from Nvidia. The Singapore-based company is launching Project Southgate, an initiative to create an energy-efficient AI data center network in Australia and Tasmania. Leveraging Nvidia’s technology, including the upcoming Vera Rubin platform, Firmus aims to enhance AI computing capabilities with these data centers. The company, originally focused on cooling technologies for Bitcoin mining, has successfully pivoted to become a key player in the AI infrastructure space, attracting significant investor interest.
